Jamaica is a 15 hh, 9 year
old chestnut gelding with a small stripe and snip on his face, no white feet.
Jamaica is a registered American Saddler but was never trained for
showing, he can slow gait though. He doesn't have shoes. He
weighs 390kg. He was stolen on Saturday 20 December 2008 between
8am and 5pm in Bynespoort just outside Pretoria.
He was selected out of 5
other horses grazing in the same 20ha veld. He looks remarkably different from
the others; he is leaner with longer legs and more spirit! He is also the horse
that is ridden most often, and he can run like hell! Jamaica was stolen between
8am when he was put out, they are stabled at night, and 5pm when we noticed he
was missing. The fencing of the veld they were in was intact; they led him out
the gates, closing the gates again behind them, and led him through the back of
the veld, cut the fence into the neighboring sand mines, and from there to the
main road where they loaded him onto a trailer. I followed their tracks up
to the road where I could see the trailer tracks and the hoof tracks stopped
there.
They used his halter which
was hidden in a corner of the barn where they are stabled. I also found markings
like a twig wired to a branch, white string hung up in a tree, wire bend into a
small circle hung on the gait leading to the stables etc. They must have had
inside info from workers on the plot. We recently had quite a few labourers
their as we were putting up broiler chicken houses.
I am terrified just to think what these thieves are putting my baby through. I
have had him since birth and he doesn't know any other owner or rider but me.
If anyone knows of his
whereabouts please contact Genine (084) 5170362 / goberholzer@ananzi.co.za.
I will do anything just to
get him back ...

Fergie
(left) and Stormy (Right) were stolen on Tuesday 5th August 2008.
The thief knew exactly which horses he wanted as I have eleven
horses in the field and my best riding horse and a youngster ready for
backing (he had already worked on long reins) were taken. The fence had
been taken down, the horses taken out and the fence hooked back up to
prevent the others following. My riding horse has a yearling which went
with them but came back the next morning. She had obviously been running
hard during the night and was clearly traumatised. I believe the thief
could not get rid of her when they were taken through my fence but
managed to lose her later on, either by shutting a gate on her or
loading the other two into a truck. She would have not left her mother
voluntarily.
Stormy who is a black gelding. He will be two
years old in November. He is thoroughbred cross percheron and will
slowly go white as he matures. He has white hairs in his coat which will
slowly get more prominent. He has a white spot on his forehead as shown
and a very bad scar on the inside of his right hind leg. He is
approximately 15.1 hands high and still growing.
Fergie
is a fifteen year old mare. She is
chestnut in colour with a white stripe down her face and two
white socks on her hind legs. She is an anglo-arab and is 15
hands high.
They
were both taken from my field during the daytime, as explained, at
Stormy Hill farm, D510, Boston KZN.
Subsequent
to this, a man at Impendle lost five of his best riding horses, all
around 15 hands high. They were branded TKG. They were stolen on Sunday
10th August. He had three black and two bay/brown horses. They were
picked out of his other horses in the same manner that mine went.
Another
man at Impendle had one chestnut horse stolen, also about 15 hands high.
These are all crossbreeds.
I
have since found out that horses have been stolen at Table Mountain area
and the Howick area within the last month. I don't know the details of
these thefts but they amount to another five horses. In all, thirteen
horses that I know of, have been stolen in the past few weeks.
I
believe a syndicate may be involved and could be selling them on to an
unsuspecting public.
If you see any of these horses or are offered them
for sale please contact Caroline on
(074) 192 7787 or phone or Kallie Nelson of the stock theft unit on
(079) 500 0644.
