The Dream
Begins ...
Alex
stands at the gate and whistles. With one swift movement, mane and tail
flowing in the air a magnificent black Arabian stallion canters to where
he stands and prances around him.
The Black Stallion
Movies … could this have been where the dreams of little girls began?
It was certainly where mine did.
However sadly, due
to the scarcity of black Arabians in South Africa, owning a black
Arabian stallion remains just that for most people – a dream. Therefore it was not surprising that during my search almost all the comments and advice were the same - "don't go for colour"; "not many black Arabians have good
pedigrees or good conformation"; "you won’t find what you are looking for in South Africa". I was not ready to give up!! After many years of praying for my dream horse God answered my request at the perfect time and …
Elkasun Shazaar Stepped Out Of My Dream!
Shazaar
is one of South Africa’s few true black Arabian stallions and a black stallion you will find hard to forget. He possesses exotic type and priceless Arabian quality. He is living proof that the black coat
colour combined with type, good conformation, outstanding temperament, breath-taking movement,
intelligence and incredible presence is indeed possible.
Shazaar
has many crosses to black. The following black producing horses are in his pedigree:
Aladdinn, Lalarge, Bask, Bey Shah, Fortel, Kuhailan-haifi, Ofir, Witraz, Gamar, Witraz II, Nitez, Niga, Morafic, Fadl, Venus, Dahman and
Gharib all occur in his pedigree. Dahman, one of the main black producing Egyptian lines occurs numerous times throughout his
pedigree on both his dam and sires side.
He also has a long line of show champions in his pedigree:
Fame VF, Bey Shah, Maistro, Aladdin, Shahteyna, Shaman AA, Romanza AA, Laddinn and
Ruminaja Ali and this is only in the last four generations!!
Show Record - Only Times
Shown:
2003 South African Champion Pure Arabian Colt Foal at Nationals (6 months old)
2006 Canterbury Equestrian Show - Supreme Champion Stallion (3 years old)
2007 Kwazulu-Natal Show For Purebred & Partbred/Anglo Arabian Horses -
Supreme Champion Purebred Stallion and Victor Lidorum Stallion (5 years old)

Offspring:
During November 2007 we welcomed Shazaar's
very
first foals into the world. To our excitement one was a gorgeous black
filly and the other one a lovely chestnut filly.
Shazaar has exceeded all
our expectations. Not only
does he excel in the show ring but he also produces show quality foals AND
passes on his black genes.
This is a very unique
combination in South Africa!
Shazaar
is not only a constant testimony of how much the Lord loves His children and cares for every aspect of their lives, but he is also a constant reminder of answered prayer and fulfilled dreams!
Our Foundation Mare Arrives:
We are ecstatic to announce that our search for a foundation mare
has come to an end. During January 2009 thanks to a mutual friend to whom we
will always be grateful, we made contact with Gisela Uijs from Namibia. After
many phone calls and prayer on both sides, Gülilah
Alifa, 2007 purebred Arabian filly made her way to us from Namibia during April
2009. Alifa is not only an incredibly pretty mare (black with a white star)
with exceptional movement and a wonderful character, but she also has a superb
endurance pedigree running through her veins through Mahib. Together with
Shazaar’s outstanding showing record as well as many others in his pedigree,
their offspring will undoubtedly be truly exquisite - with a 50 % chance of
being black and 25 % chance of being homozygous black!
We would like to thank Gisela for trusting us
with her precious filly and being so willing to let her travel to a home so far
away! Gisela is a very special lady with a true love for horses. We did not
even lay eyes on Alifa personally before she arrived and yet Gisela was
truthful, helpful and honest in all her dealings with us. If only all breeders
were so trustworthy and ethical!!
Herewith Gisela’s contribution:
“Our
little Gülilah
Alifa has left home to travel to her new owners in South Africa. Alifa means
“the trusted one or the trusting one”. We want to reach out to Lynne and Johann
Wilhelm and thank them for trusting us, as we have trusted them with this very
special little lass.
G. Alifa’s mother is Gülilah
Al K.H. (named for our first grand daughter Kerstin Helga). A lovely bay with
very strong, showy, forward movement. Alifa’s father was the last foal of our
WAHO trophy winner G.
Güleh-
Güleh.
He is a ladies man and his new owner, who does endurance riding in spite of her
handicap of only one leg says, she won’t part with him no matter what the
offer; and believe me, she has had quite a few.
To Lynne and Johann:
welcome to the Gülilah
Family and may you be blessed through Alifa’s friendship. Love Gisela”

“Be delighted with the Lord. Then He will give you all your heart’s desires.” – Psalm 37: 4

Written by Elzet Swart:
Being the only locally bred Arab colt in a class of mainly imported Arabians stallions, a young Egyptian Arab stallion, strut his stuff, and together with his local handler they both were triumphant.
This story commenced way back with the legendary stallions, Makhsous, Hadaya El Tareef and the renowned S.A. Champion Arab Stallion, Thee Cyclone. It all started when Mr. Niel Kirstein, of Joni Arabians, imported a daughter of Makhsous, called Khalehla, out of the Egyptian mare, Waseela. Khalehla came to South Africa in 1994. She produced and is still producing several stunning offspring sired by a variety of stallions. Khalehla’s first filly, Joni Khareefa, imported in Utero since she was sired by the USA champion stallion, Hadaya El Tareef, was born later in 1995. Joni Khareefa was then sold to the Van Zyl family where she produced some lovely offspring for them. One of which was the amazing colt Twinz Bahrain, sired by the S.A. Multiple champion Egyptian stallion, Thee Cyclone. As a yearling Bahrain was shown at the 2005 North-West Championships held in Parys, where he was awarded a 1st place in the colts 1 year to 2 years class and became the Junior Reserve Champion colt at that same show.
Then in 2006 Clive and Frieda Van Zyl were given the opportunity to be employed by Tinus & Francisca Strydom, at the Strydom’s stud farm, near Bronkhorstspruit and they moved to the Gauteng Province, together with most of their Arabian horses. Twinz Bahrain was also shown at the Pretoria International show and some other Arab shows where he was awarded several winnings for the Van Zyl family.
Then something extraordinary happened in this 2 year old colt’s life. He was sold to Chris & Noleen Du Preez of Jiryah Arabians who resides near Cullinan, Gauteng Province. Resourcefully they decided to send him to Anton Van Der Laan, for some training to be done at his Horse Training centre in Delmas, Mpumalanga. This was the dawning of a winning combination for this freshly founded Arabian stud and their newly acquired stud sire of the future.
Anton convinced them to enter Bahrain into the 2007 National Championships where Bahrain was presented by this skillful horseman as his halter-handler. There history was made as this young locally bred Egyptian Arab stallion stood neck-to-neck with highly commended imported Arabian horses, most of which was handled by proficient foreign handlers too. Bahrain and Anton was awarded a 1st place in the Junior colt class and they then received a 4th place rosette in the Supreme Champion Stallion and Top 5 class, alongside only imported Arabian stallions with professional handlers from foreign countries too. This needs to be done!
According to Anton, this gorgeous young locally bred Egyptian Arab stallion is an amazing horse to work with. He has no mean hair on his whole body and is as affectionate to humans as can be. Bahrain was also totally at ease when Anton introduced him to his saddle with little effort and he demonstrates enormous eagerness to please his rider.
Since his good fortune at the SA National Championships in 2007, he has competed at several other shows with several winnings. Anton also showed him in the performance riding classes and the formal riding classes at the Parys Sport horse championships, where Bahrain took it all in a stride, with no upsets and lots of charisma.
Show Record:
2005 North-West Championships 1st place Colts 1 - 2 years & Junior Reserve Champion Colt
2007 SA National Championships 1st Junior Colts and 4th in the Supreme Champion Stallion & Top 5 Class

Bin-Yssuf
Arabians
Established

Home of Exclusive, the most famous stallion in RSA

''To
our Heavenly Father all the glory for sculpturing these amazing animals, its our
privilege to share them with you all in the spirit of love for what must surely
be Gods most precious creations of all...''
Bin-Yssuf Arabians is literally a childhood dream come true. As a child I lost
my heart to Arabians while watching the Black Stallion movie. Little did I
know what huge impact this movie would have on our future lives.
The Arabian breeders invited the general public to come and meet some of the
most exquisite Arabians up close at a National Championship show. One snow
white stallion, Vidiko Gamil Grey captured my undivided attention and
left me spell-bound. Later I saw a photo of the most exquisite dished face of a
white stallion, Darius. All this made me promise myself that if
ever I had the privilege to own and breed horses of my own, I would settle for
nothing less than an Arabian.
Very few people are privileged to live ones dream everyday of ones life. Darius
was the inspiration and foundation on which Bin-Yssuf was build and today his
legacy and influence is stronger than ever. Today I call myself blessed to
own Vidiko Shah Bee, one of the last living sons of the legendary Darius
and our foundation mare, Vidiko Niha, one of only a handful of living
daughters of Darius.

"20 Years of
breeding
exclusively, exceptionally exquisite Arabian athletes.''
